Art Basel 2018 was a week full of art that filled our city of Miami with many incredible events. Tourists and locals were able to enjoy art, fashion, and music everywhere; you could easily run into a celebrity or meet one of your favorite influencers, if not many!
Of course, we were more focused on fashion events like we always are, and one of our favorites was the special fashion experience by Alexis Carballosa (we just love his work) at the Sagamore Hotel in Miami Beach.
The event took place on December 6th, 2018 and was another success for this Venezuelan Miami-based designer, gathering tons of fashionistas and followers of this designer that were looking for something different…something that only this talented designer can deliver with his shows.
Our Latina blogger had a little chit-chat with Carballosa backstage where they talked about his work, upcoming projects and more… Check it out!
Miami Fashion Spotlight: What motivated you to participate in Art Basel 2018?
Alexis Carballosa: “I was invited as part of an artistic proposal of my past fashion collections that I had presented in Europe. It seemed like a wonderful idea because I always have wanted to showcase something of mine presented outside of the United States.”
MFS: Do you think fashion now has an important participation in women’s empowerment?
AC: “Definitely, it’s undoubted, it’s always been part of my proposal… that’s why I do what I do, in tribute to women.”
MFS: How do you think your art influences society?
AC: “I think, not following any kind of trend, nor really following social patterns. But simply letting myself be carried away by inspirations that are really a matter of emotions. ”
MFS: In your career in Miami, there has been a message behind and it is ecological care. Do you feel that message has arrived?
AC: Yes. Without a doubt.
MFS: What can you tell us about your upcoming projects?
AC: “There are many surprises for April on Earth day. I’m doing a super big event in collaboration with companies that manage a sustainable level also here in Miami. But I cannot tell you much, although we are already in the process of preproduction. ”

Experiencia Especial de Moda por Alexis Carballosa en Art Basel 2018.
Art Basel 2018 fue una semana llena de arte que lleno nuestra ciudad de Miami con muchos eventos. Los turistas y los locales pudieron disfrutar de arte, moda y música en cualquier parte. Fácilmente podía uno encontrarse con una celebridad o conocer a alguno de los influencers o, si se tenía suerte, ¡ a varios!
Por supuesto, nosotros nos centramos más en los eventos de moda como siempre lo hacemos, siendo uno de nuestros favoritos la experiencia especial de moda de Alexis Carballosa (nos encanta su trabajo) en el hotel Sagamore en Miami Beach. Este evento que se llevó a cabo el 6 de diciembre del 2018 y fue otro éxito de este diseñador venezolano con sede en Miami, reunió a un montón de fashionistas y seguidores de este diseñador que buscaban algo diferente … algo que solo Carballosa puede ofrecer con sus shows.

Miami Fashion Spotlight: ¿Que te motivó a participar en Art Basel 2018?
Alexis Carballosa: “Me invitaron como parte de una propuesta artística de todas mis colecciones pasadas que había presentado en Europa. Me pareció una idea maravillosa porque siempre he querido mostrar algo mío presentado fuera de los Estados Unidos.”
MFS: ¿Crees que la moda ahora tiene una participación importante en el empoderamiento femenino?
AC: “Definitivamente, es indudable, ha sido parte de mi propuesta siempre…por eso hago lo que hago, en tributo a la mujer.”
MFS: ¿Tu arte de qué manera piensas que influye en la sociedad?
AC: “Creo que, no siguiendo ningún tipo de tendencia, ni siguiendo realmente patrones sociales. Sino que simplemente dejándome llevar por inspiraciones que realmente son cuestión de emociones.”
MFS: En tu trayectoria en Miami ha habido un mensaje detrás y es el cuidado ecológico ¿sientes que ese mensaje ha llegado?
AC: Si. Definitivamente, sin duda alguna.
MFS: ¿Que nos puede adelantar sobre los próximos proyectos que vienen?
AC: “Hay muchas sorpresas para abril en el día de la tierra. Estoy haciendo un evento súper grande en colaboración con compañías que manejan un nivel sustentable también acá en Miami. No les puedo contar mucho…solo ya estamos en el proceso de preproducción.”
