We have exciting coverage about the sexiest event on the planet! Yes, Volleyball lovers, the event Hawkers Model Volleyball returned to South Beach this year AGAIN!
The 2-day co-ed tournament that was hosted by Flo Rida was back to Miami Beach last week for its 9th annual gathering–bringing around 15,000 spectators, 12 model agencies, and 250 participating models to our sands and beaches.
Hawkers Model Volleyball: The Event
All of this is for a good cause; don’t forget this thrilling event takes place to benefit The Jack Brewer Foundation (with the support of the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority).
The blast for locals and tourists was that Hawkers Model Volleyball was free and open to the public–everybody had the opportunity to be close to the models that they’ve never been before.
Furthermore, speaking of fashion, the returning partner and global brand based in Spain, Hawkers, showcased their newest sunglasses designs courtside, and we loved them all!
Sponsors and Prizes: More Fun!
The event had a lot of interesting sponsors who made the event more fun by sampling and pampering the attendees. We found: iHeart Radio, Whispering Angel, Lavalier Skincare, Celsius Heat, ONO Poke, Hope Hummus, Pollo Tropical, Maku Wellness, Redbull, Sparkling Ice and LIVE! Menin Hospitality returned this year too as the event official hotel.
We are waiting for the final report about the winners, but we heard the top four winning teams won an all-expenses-paid trip to a rematch on the sandy beach of Resorts World Bimini, hosted by Luna Beach Club. We also heard from a good source that the winning team was going to join the Jack Brewer Foundation as Global Ambassadors for its 4th consecutive year on a mission trip to Haiti, bringing awareness to the foundation’s current initiatives.
Miami Fashion Spotlight: An Exclusive!
Our events blogger, Diamante Jones, had so much fun under the sun, sharing videos through our Facebook fan page and interviewing models. He reported exclusive Q&As…check it out!
Q&A with Erin Jones Wesley and Lauren Skowronski (DAS Model Management)
Miami Fashion Spotlight (DJ): How do you two feel about today’s model volleyball event?
Erin: I am so excited, this is my second year playing at model volleyball and it’s a fun event. On top of that it is such a party, but it’s competitive and it’s fun to see everyone from different agencies make friends with one another. Also, you see everyone at casting and get to also play volleyball with them and it just gives it a fun element.
MFS (DJ): How are you two enjoying this wonderful Miami South beach weather today?
Lauren: I think the weather is great because it brings everybody outdoors. Everybody is having a good time and even though it’s hot and humid we’re all out here in the sun getting a nice tan. Plus, it’s not raining or cloudy so that’s the bright side of today’s event.
MFS (DJ): Besides the model volleyball event, what else are you two looking or hoping to gain from being here?
Erin: For me, as a former athlete, it is fun to have some competitive time with friends and just spend time in Miami. I’m originally from Los Angeles, so anytime I have an excuse to be in Miami in the sun by the beach with a change in location but still having the chance to be by the water is awesome. And everything feels so much better and fun.
Lauren: I think this is just a great opportunity for all these models and other agencies to come together for other models to meet each other and to be able to work with each other. We are also in a good location, in a great place, and tons of great pictures are being taken and this is just a fun event all around
Q &A with Brook Williams (Green Agency)
Miami Fashion Spotlight (DJ): How are you enjoying Hawkers’ 9th annual model volleyball this year?
Brooke: This event is so much fun! There are so many sponsors here, it’s so awesome. I’m just happy to be part of it.
MFS (DJ): What do you think about this sunny day on South Beach?
Brooke: The weather has been so beautiful with a nice breeze. It’s not that hot here and everything is so pretty.
MFS (DJ): Is this your first time as a model here at Hawkers Model Volleyball?
Brooke: This is my second year coming and playing in this event.
MFS (DJ): How is this year model volleyball event different from your first year participating?
Brooke: The first year is always like this new environment and new experience for some, including myself. But this year I’m more comfortable!
Q&A with Olivia Ormos (Hawkers Model Volleyball Co-Founder)
Miami Fashion Spotlight (DJ): How much does this event mean to you?
Olivia: We’ve been producing this event since 2010, and it’s grown drastically every year. It means everything since we have become a stable event in Miami Beach. It’s important for us to keep the growth going and the community together.
MFS (DJ): Was it challenging to get all these models and their agencies here to help represent this event?
Olivia: I think it’s one of a kind that you’ll find an event that could bring competitive modeling agencies together. The way we do things, doing everything we can to push the charity we work with, which is the Jack Brewer Foundation. We take the winning team with us on a mission trip to Haiti. I think that everybody likes that there are those different types of components to this event.
MFS (DJ): Tell me why has Miami been that location spot for this event?
Olivia: Because it’s special! We have support from the city of Miami Beach and they’re a sponsor. It’s great having that backbone knowing that the city wants us here and enjoy what we produce. The next stop for us will be Los Angeles!
