The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach along with Lionstone Development hosted a spectacular, private evening soiree that kicked off the 2011 Art Basel festivities with the 8th annual Masters Mystery Art Show (MMAS) that benefitted the FIU Master’s in Fine Arts Program.
Over 350 of Miami’s most influential socialites, art collectors, designers and artists converged upon the lobby of The Ritz-Carlton to purchase original 6×9-inch works of art for only $50 signed on the back by the artist whose name is revealed only after its sale. The mystery created an artistic “whodunit” as guests sipped cocktails and buzzed around the mini masterpieces identifying works by famous artists, celebrities, designers and emerging talent to add to their collections.

This year, some of the world’s and Miami’s top fashion designers used white t-shirts as their canvases and created wearable art. Designers such as Viviana Gabeiras of Petit Pois, Julian Chang, Eduardo de las Casas, former contestant of Project Runway and who recently received Peru’s highest Fashion honor, Uruguay’s most recognizable Designer Sergio Gau, Jacquelinne Quinn, former designer for Perry Ellis and Bill Blass, Samy Gicherman, Danittza Zimic, Isa Zapata, and many more, all created pieces that were original expressions of their style and designs.
