Every two years we are invited to the beautiful “Bal des Etoiles” in Paris, by Princess Catherine Colonna de Stigliano, and we have the opportunity to reunite with all our ASW (A Small World) friends and meet new ones. We also attend to the “Bal de L’Ete of Monaco, which I’m looking forward to already, but lets concentrate in the first one. The “Ball des Etoiles” takes place under the patronage and In Aid of The Sovereign Order of Malta of Monaco, benefiting “Pain without Border” (“Douleurs Sans Frontieres”), a non-profit international humanitarian organization to provide medical aid following wars dedicated to the treatment of pain. We are so happy and lucky to help and contribute in such a beautiful way!
Of course, being a fashion designer I will take full advantage of the experience: getting inspired, searching for the new “it” thing, feeling the fashion, the people. It anointed my vision and filled my mind with ideas that are coming back to me like an explosion of memories that I cannot draw fast enough to record them all.
I want to share my experiences with everyone, and perhaps later it will make sense to you when my new collection comes out! and, probably, I will completely change my mind, who knows!
I stayed at La Maison Champs Elysees Hotel, the 1st hotel decorated by the fabulous Martin Margiela, right by Avenue Montaigne in the heart of Paris’s “Golden Triangle” with exquisite luxury and top fashion designer stores, my favorite being Nina Ricci!
My husband, Rafael, surprised me with a special dinner to see the original Le Bal du Moulin Rouge, from 1889. The theater was spectacular, and when seated in the front row I could feel the emotions under my skin from the dancing.
The next day was a cocktail-dinner where we met and saw the 3 Michelin-Star chef, Bernard Loiseau, in action at the Parisian restaurant “Tante Louise”. We spent the days shopping at Rue St. Honore and Place Vendôme, we saw the new Pop Up store for Dior at Printemps, and the new must-sees holiday window displays. Every night after-hours, we would end up at the famous Café L’Avenue for a nightcap.
The day of the ball it is a custom to have lunch at the famous Le Costes, and later do our Haute Coiffure at Franck Provost Paris, reserved by the organization. Finally, after arriving to the Palace for the Ball, Paris’s most exclusive club “Cercle de l’Union l’Interalliee”. The perfect weather and the company of my husband, who is my James Bond, made for a very romantic evening.
The next morning, after getting the most sleep possible, we all went for brunch at the “Palace de Bristol” where we were seated with an inspiring view of the garden! After all the champagne, we really did need a great brunch with style.
Later, it was time to leave the fairy tale, but before coming back to reality, we stopped in London for more fashion… but that is another story!
