On my way back home from Paris I couldn’t miss a stop in London, England and see the famous windows that they always display for Christmas. London is such a traditional city, yet at the same time it is very innovative and cool when it comes to fashion.
My first stop was to see the Oriental inspired windows at Harvey Nichols, that’s considered the leading international luxury fashion destination. Their windows were ultra-embellished with colorful themes based on all the Oriental trends from the 2012 fashion week. This alone I find to be enough to wake up all your creative senses, even if you do not have one!
As I walked down the street towards Harrods, my next stop, I felt like I was walking through a tunnel of lights, as if I were inside an enchanted place. Its amazing window displays were showcasing ten stunning dresses created by world leading designers that joined forces with Disney to bring to life their interpretation of the original Princesses’ dresses. Some of the designers were Oscar de la Renta, Ellie Saab, Escada, Missoni, Ralph and Russo and Valentino.
When I close my eyes I can still envision all their spectacular fashion……..! To see this in real life is breath taking, nothing compares to seeing it in person. Sorry!
Another of my favorites, a must for me, is the Jean Paul Gaultier store. He is such an icon for London’s Fashion, now with his The Naughty Christmas theme this season. It was just announced he is launching a new streetwear line in 2013. I can’t wait to see the new line of this “enfant terrible”, as he’s been known.
Those who know me will not be surprised to know (I like to mix reality with fantasy!) that my next stop was Camden Town; one of the most visited places in London and strongly associated with alternative culture. My style always has a twist of punk and I love to infuse different cultures together, so I told myself: “This town is truly the essence of punk, and takes you to relive time from your past” artistically speaking. (Thanks to my partner in crime, my husband Rafael Gabeiras, who always looks after me).
Camden Town was a residential area in 1791, then the Grand Union Canal and the railways took over and was considered an “unfashionable locality” for a long time. Now it houses many markets and music venues mixed with alternative culture fashion and lifestyle. This area has been the home of famous people such as Dylan Thomas, Walter Sickert and Amy Winehouse, to name a few. It is said that “Camden can outweird New York any day of the week” and I can prove it. I feel like I was transported into a twilight dimension!
My last night in London finished with a high end trunk show in a private suite at the famous luxury Corinthia Hotel, showcasing the exclusive Ralph & Russo Luxury Couture collection by the creative director herself, Tamara Ralph, together with Leviev jewelry, presented by its CEO himself, Richard Weinberg. It was nice to be at this event, people were warm and inviting, proper manners were abundant, this is why everybody loves London! Sorry, no pictures allowed, but let me tell you their new collections are spectacular!
I ended the day gathering at the Hakkasan Mayfair for a farewell dinner!!!!! I left the next day to fly back home to South Beach, where the weather is perfect this time of year.
This is what makes Petit Pois by Viviana G a true lifestyle collection!
