Miami Beach International Fashion Week kicked off on March 21st, 2012, spotlighting emerging designers from around the world at the Miami Beach Convention Center located at 1901 Convention Center Drive in the city of Miami Beach.
The fashionable opening night started with a press conference hosted by international music icon, Dionne Warwick and Grammy award winner music producer Damon Elliott.
The first fashion show was the “Swimwear Designer Showcase” featuring designers such as: “Emmanouela Iliaki” from Greece, “Zella Machado” from the USA, “Pais del Sol” from Ecuador, “De Lancret” from Brazil/USA and “Minka” by Maven from the Bahamas.
The second fashion show showcased “Emerging Designers Prelude” and the “Miami Style Showcase”. The “Emerging Designers Prelude” included: Lisu Vega, “Zula Studio”, “Crystal 4 U”, “By Misha”, K. Hendrix, Erin Healy and Eduardo de las Casas. The Miami Style Showcase featured designs by South Florida’s top designers including Viviana G. for “Petit Pois”, “Luxxe Collections”, Kayce Armstrong for “Art of Shade” and Ema Savahl Couture.
What was hot, cool, good and best?
Hot: “De Lancret” by Helen Victoria. For the second time Helen Victoria hits the runway of MBIFW gaining a lot of attention with her sexy swimwear.
Cool: The inspirational advice about how to succeed in career and life by icon music legend, Dionne Warwick who also hosted the official after party at “STK” at the Perry South Beach Hotel.
Good: Fashion designer, Emma Savahl–this talented designer made her debut at MBIFW with very form fitting designs that took everybody’s breath away.
Best: Five stars to the collection and runway show presented by Viviana Gabeiras and her renowned line, “Petit Pois”. Gabeiras kicked off the runway with a collection inspired by singer Florence Welch –her mesh fabric designs in vibrant colors and mosaic “art prints” just rocked the runway!
