This past Thursday, on November 7th, Leonardo Rocco once again surprised all who attended the ninth edition of the much-anticipated Miami Hair, Beauty & Fashion 2013 event by Rocco Donna, a day that celebrated the most exclusive in the world of entertainment, beauty, fashion, luxury, and lifestyle industry.
As is done each year, the event proposed a particular theme to serve as a guide, and for the 2013 edition, it was “Rebel Divas”. The theme was conceived to recognize and celebrate Frida Kahlo, María Félix, Marilyn Monroe, Sofia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Ava Gardner, Donna Summer and Elizabeth Taylor; nine extraordinary women who managed to break away from stereotypes and prejudices in order to influence the life of every woman with their own style throughout the different stages of their lives.
The grand event kicked off with exclusive backstage experiences for a select group of members from the media, including bloggers, media and TV personalities. They were treated pampering and relaxation hosted in the Suave Professionals® Hair Lounge and provided by Leonardo Rocco and his creative team at Rocca Donna Hair & Beauty Art. In addition, members of the media participated in beauty, fashion, and lifestyle lectures, held by Marger, the designer of Rosita Hurtado and Erika García from Vacacionante.
This year, fans nationwide were able to take part in all the MHB&F action, thanks to the sweepstakes sponsored by Suave Professionals®. The sweepstakes gave four individuals the opportunity to have complete VIP access to all of the event activities, from beauty and fashion seminars, to the runway show that featured the divas and well-known designers.
The gala portion of the night began with the traditional “Pink Carpet”, benefiting the Susan G. Komen for The Cure foundation, and taking place at the exclusive LMNT Arts in Midtown. Attendees included important celebrities, actors, TV and radio hosts. Photographer Nick García was also on hand to produce a photo shoot that captured the looks of the models and celebrities prior to the fashion show.
The main event, the grand runway show of the “Rebel Divas”, was led by Venezuelan singer, songwriter and actress, Marger, who opened the show with a performance paying tribute to one of divas, singing classics by Donna Summer, such as “Last Dance” and “On the Radio”. Following the performance, the remaining celebrities strut down the runway completely transformed into each diva: Candela Ferro as Frida Kahlo, Agueda Lopez as Grace Kelly, CNN presenter Mariela Encarnación as Sophia Loren, actress Scarlet Ortiz as Ava Garner, actress Michelle Vargas as Elizabeth Taylor, TV presenter Alessandra Villegas as Marilyn Monroe, tv presenter Gaby Acuña as Audrey Hepburn and Audris Rijo as Maria Felix. Many celebrities such as Alexia Echevarria, Karen Sierra, Azucena Cierco, Daniel Sarcos, Jorge Bernal walked the runway. Each one showcased creations designed by fashion’s top talent, Miguel Ángel Masjuán and Rosita Hurtado— who presented her latest collection in men’s fashion, “Rosita Hurtado Men’s Wear”.
The event couldn’t have taken place at a better time as creator, Leonardo’s home country of Argentina was being celebrated in Miami. In addition the General Consulate of Argentina participated as one of the events sponsors.
Argentinian artist Havi Schanz, created portraits of the Rebel Divas, which were displayed throughout the evening. Meanwhile, Rocco Donna Hair and Beauty Art presented their latest trends in hair and makeup for 2014: “Amazonia Collection 2014”.
During one of the more emotional moments of the night, beautician to the stars, Gloria Hincapié, was recognized for her survival and support to the cause of the fight against breast cancer.
