Couples Travel: Niagara Falls in Canada as Summer Destination. MFS

Whenever I talk about Niagara Falls, I say it is the perfect place for lovers, honeymoons, wedding anniversary celebrations, marriage proposing or to commemorate that you are happy with your partner. What can be a better achievement and motive to celebrate than the happiness of two souls who love each other?

If you are looking for a place to go on vacation this summer, or just a getaway, I recommend, to my lovebirds The Niagara Falls in Ontario in Canada, where I spent a romantic getaway with my husband in 2017, and I am dying to visit again soon.

We stayed in the ‘Marriott on the Falls’ hotel in a suite overlooking the falls, where we made our breakfast in the privacy of room very early in the morning, while we contemplated the grandeur of the “Horseshoe Falls.”

The location of the Hotel is very convenient since you can walk to all the attractions. The parking is the only problem you will have there because if you go in the car, you will spend a lot of time looking for an available parking spot because they are always full.

Besides, we prefer walking when we are on vacation, so we can discover the area better and learn more about the culture of the places we visited.

I start by recommending that you go on the boat ride the first day because it is the signature activity there, “The Hornblowers Niagara Cruise.” Also, if it’s available, buy the combo that includes two tours, day and night. It works out cheaper, and each experience is totally different—so it’s worth doing both.

Go in the morning or afternoon and take the tour of the day (The Voyage to the Falls Boat Tour), this will take you face to face with the thundering waterfalls, you will experience incredible emotions, which you will never forget!

Walk around the park, take your time to look for souvenirs and have lunch or dinner at any of the restaurants inside, and find the one that suits your budget best—all the restaurants of the park have beautiful views of the falls.

Then come back in the night to the “Fireworks Falls Cruise,” the cruise of fireworks, where they have drinks, music and you have a lot of fun, it’s almost like a big party!

The next day you can go to Clifton Hill and walk around the area. I recommend visiting Niagara SkyWheel which is in the heart of Clifton Hill — it is a romantic experience, being with your better half on the top of the wheel with these amazing panoramic views. Also, you guys can have fun at the “Dinosaur Adventure Golf– Canada’s largest mini-golf attraction!

My next recommendation is having dinner at the “Queen Victoria Place Restaurant” – it offers the best local menu with ingredients from the Niagara including wines and craft beers.

Also here is my best advice; rent a car early morning and go by road to the Vineyards that are in Niagara-on-the- Lake, you must meet this charming small town. If you can try to stay one or two nights at the Prince of Wales hotel, it would be incredible.

Or at least go to the “happy hour” at the bar of this amazing hotel; you will have a great time. We also made acquaintances there, and they recommended the Happy Hour menu to us since there is a big deal for the price and the quality of the food, which turned out to be exquisite, as well as the price– we really loved it!

There are all kinds of hotels and Bed and Breakfast accommodations to choose, pick the one that fits best your budget, but the idea is to visit “Niagara-on-the Lake” and walk its street because it’s almost like a fairy tale town!

If you are a wine lover, you should visit the vineyards there—it’s a must! Our favorite was “Konzelmann Estate Winery” because of the attention they gave us and because it is in front of the lake.

I recommend doing the tour; the price is very affordable, and the boutique has more than 30 great wines available. The place is beautiful outside; it would be perfect for making a family celebration or celebrating a birthday, even a wedding. The truth is that we were delighted with the dedication and commitment from the staff that works here with each of their visitors.

On our way back we stopped at “Niagara River Whirlpool” – a natural whirlpool that is in The Niagara Gorge coming down from Niagara Falls, we could not leave without taking pictures of this natural beauty.

There are many attractions at Niagara Falls, and it will depend on the type of couple you are: adventurous, gourmet, romantic, etc. It’s up to you guys the things you will pick to do there, but I can tell you one thing for sure… you will come back more in love than ever!

Cada vez que hablo sobre las Cataratas del Niágara, digo que es el lugar perfecto para los enamorados, lunas de miel, celebraciones de aniversario de bodas, propuestas de matrimonio o para conmemorar que estás feliz con tu pareja. ¿Y que podría ser mejor motivo para celebrar la felicidad de dos almas que se aman?

Así que, si están buscando un lugar para ir de vacaciones este verano, o darte una escapadita, le recomiendo a mis tortolitos, las Cataratas del Niágara en Ontario, Canadá, donde pasé un romántico fin de semana con mi esposo en el 2017, y quedé con ganas de visitarlas de nuevo.

Nos alojamos en el hotel ‘Marriott on the Falls’ en una suite con vistas a las cataratas, donde hicimos desayuno en la intimidad de nuestra habitación muy temprano en la mañana, mientras contemplamos la grandeza de las Cataratas “Horseshoe”.

La ubicación del hotel es muy conveniente ya que se puede caminar a todas las atracciones. El estacionamiento es el único problema que tendrán allí porque si va en el automóvil, pasarán mucho tiempo buscando estacionamiento disponible porque siempre están full.

Además, nosotros preferimos caminar cuando estamos de vacaciones, para poder descubrir mejor el área y aprender más sobre la cultura de los lugares que visitamos.

Comenzaré por recomendarles que hagan el crucero hacia las Cataratas el primer día porque es la actividad característica allí, acercarse a las cataratas en el” The Hornblowers Niagara Cruise”. Además, y si está disponible, adquieran el combo que incluye dos recorridos, día y noche. Les resultará más barato, y cada experiencia es totalmente diferente, por lo que vale la pena hacer ambas.

Vayan por la mañana o temprano en la tarde y hagan el crucero del día, este los llevará cara a cara con las tronantes cascadas que los harán experimentar increíbles emociones que nunca olvidarán. Hagan un paseíto por el parque, tómese su tiempo para comprar souvenirs y almuercen o cenen en cualquiera de los restaurantes que se encuentran allí dentro–el que mejor se adapte a su presupuesto– ya que todos los restaurantes del parque tienen hermosas vistas de las cataratas.

Luego, regresen por la noche al crucero de los fuegos artificiales “Fireworks Falls Cruise,” donde venden bebidas alcohólicas acompañado de una música increíble, los hará pasar una noche super divertida, ¡casi como una gran fiesta!
Al día siguiente, vayan a Clifton Hill y recorran el área. Les recomiendo visitar el parque de atracciones con la super rueda gigante “Niagara SkyWheel”, que se encuentra en el corazón de Clifton Hill; es una experiencia romántica, estar en la cima con estas increíbles vistas panorámicas. Vayan también a divertirse en el “Dinosaur Adventure Golf – ¡la atracción de minigolf más grande de Canadá!

Mi siguiente recomendación es cenar en el Restaurante “Queen Victoria Place”, que ofrece el mejor menú local con ingredientes naturales del Niágara, que incluyen vinos y cervezas artesanales.

Aquí les va mi granito de arena; alquilen un auto temprano por la mañana y vaya por carretera a los viñedos que se encuentran en “Niagara-on-the- Lake”, no dejen de conocer esta pequeña y encantadora ciudad.

Si pueden traten de hospedarse una o dos noches en el hotel “Prince of Wales”, será una experiencia increíble. O al menos vayan al “Happy Hour” en el bar de este increíble hotel; la pasaran genial.

Les cuento que hicimos amistades allí, y nos recomendaron el menú del “Happy Hour”, ya que es una gran oferta por el precio y la calidad de la comida, resultando ser exquisita por un super buen precio. ¡Nos encantó!

Hay todo tipo de hoteles y alojamientos de “Bed & Breakfast” para elegir en caso que quieran precios más asequibles (hay para todos los presupuestos) pero la idea es que visiten “Niagara-on-the Lake” y recorran caminando las calles de este pueblito, parece un cuento de hadas.

Si son amante de buenos vinos, deben visitar los viñedos allí (es un Must). Nuestro favorito fue el “Konzelmann Estate Winery” debido a la atención que nos brindaron y porque está frente al lago.

Recomiendo hacer el tour de los vinos; el precio es muy solidario, y la boutique cuenta con más de 30 excelentes vinos disponibles. La parte de afuera es hermosa; perfecta para hacer una celebración familiar o celebrar un cumpleaños, incluso una boda. La verdad es que quedamos encantados con la dedicación y el compromiso del personal que trabaja allí con cada uno de sus visitantes.

En nuestro camino de regreso, nos detuvimos en el muy famoso remolino natural que se encuentra en el desfiladero del Niágara, el “Niagara River Whirlpool”; no podíamos irnos sin tomar fotografías de esta belleza natural.

En fin, hay muchas atracciones en las Cataratas del Niágara, y dependerá del tipo de pareja que ustedes sean: aventureros, gourmet, románticos, etc. Depende de ustedes las actividades que escojan para hacer allí—lo que sí les puedo decir es que regresarán ¡más enamorados que nunca!
