It’s amazing how sometimes fashion can turn anything in a form that can be worn daily by women, while transforming their style in the most unique and unexpected way. A piece that exists nearly a century and does exactly this, couldn’t be anything else than the renowned and much-loved jumpsuit.
The jumpsuit started out as a sport or workwear piece that pilots and skydivers used to wear. It was only in 1919, when Italian artist Thayat attempted to create the first fashion jumpsuit. Years passed and several designers crafted their version, but it was all until late 60s-early 70s when designer Elsa Schiaparelli made the first high-fashion jumpsuit.
The rest of the story is well known; Yves Saint Laurent, Norma Kamali and other fashion superheroes followed with their characteristic styles. Who doesn’t remember Elvis Presley performing with his total white jumpsuit back then?
Nowadays, nearly every designer has brought out his signature alternative. From Stella McCartney to Marc Jacobs, the jumpsuit became one of the best ways for achieving an effortlessly cool look, whether it’s toned down for a day look or more formal for a head-turning night appearance. And we have to admit it girls; it’s easy, quick and makes us feel powerful and confident in an instant. What’s better than this?
Here are 3 fabulous ways to style a jumpsuit in 2017!
Sleek Black / La Petite Robe di Chiara Boni / Rebecca Jumpsuit
I wore this gorgeous tailored, body hugging jumpsuit for “Fashion Group International of South Florida” event. The secret when wearing a piece like this one, is to pair it with key accessories to make it pop even more. The colorful Carolina Herrera clutch gave my look a playful touch, accompanied by Calvin Klein pumps and minimal jewelry by Swarovski. Slicked back hair is a great idea for revealing the real beauty of the jumpsuit.
Tropical Storm / Trina Turk / Leigha Jumpsuit
This piece that I wore for an event at Trina Turk’s store here in Miami, is definitely a statement piece for all the daring fashion lovers out there. I paired it with my YSL clutch and Kollectin jewelry. If you want to go for a similar look, keep the rest simple and let the colorful jumpsuit do the talking!
Game Changer/ Solace London / Black Rozalla Jumpsuit
An amazing piece by an amazing brand; Solace London’s designs are gorgeous! And yes, this isn’t a dress! It’s a jumpsuit and it’s extremely flattering. So unique and fashion-forward that doesn’t need much. A cute small Prada clutch and my Steve Madden sandals. The perfect outfit for my best friend’s birthday Jonathan Torres at Biltmore Hotel. Because what else could you wear when attending a fashion lover’s occasion?
