The Show and more

The show which began at 7:30 pm had the special participation of Mayor Suarez. He attended with his family and proclaimed the MISO as the Official Symphony Orchestra of the City of Miami.

In his statements to the local media, the mayor said that “as a Miamian, I am proud of the wide cultural offer of our city and the Miami Symphony Orchestra is a fundamental part of the local culture”. He also expressed his deep gratitude for the chance to conduct the National Anthem during the celebration of July 4th after rehearsing with the Orchestra.

On January 3rd, MISO was applauded during the US. Conference of Mayors, when Mayor Suarez was inaugurated as the 80th President, which is undoubtedly a reflection of the commendable work that Maestro Marturet has done at the head of the Orchestra. Maestro Marturet has been able to fuse the classical repertoire with Latin genres such as jazz, pop, and rock, representing Miami and its cultural mix unlike any other musical group in its style, and consolidating itself as a mirror of the community.

Eduardo Marturet expressed: “Mr. Mayor, what an honor to be the official Symphony Orchestra of the City of Miami! It could not be better. Since the 34 years the Symphony exists, this is the greatest moment. In the name of our chairman Rafael Diaz-Balart, the board of directors, advisory board, staff and members of the Symphony, I thank you, your staff and commissioners, for this fantastic honor”.
