Richard Silver Screen Reviews: Kick-Ass 2

By Richard Rivera.

A Kiss-ass of a fun time, Times 2 in this heroic battle of bad Villain’s versus heroes. The Sequel to 2010’s Punk-superhero Rampage is back in Kick-Ass 2

Kick-Ass 2 Offers a convenient punch line for the critics who want manic mix of R-rated comedy and action seen in Matthew Vaughn’s original while omitting the terrible attempts at shock-drama that polluted Mark Millar’s comic.

Staring Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass) plays Dave Lizewski high school / hero in this second time around sequel also co staring with Chloë Grace Moretz (Hitgirl) plays as Mindy Macready in her second appearance in Kick-Ass. Also staring Morris Chestnut (Detective Marcus Williams) who plays Mindy Guardian. Other new stars Jim Carrey (Colonel Stars and Stripes) Plays as a leader of new group of heroes. Also staring Lindy Booth (Night Bitch) who is Kick ass new main squeeze.

For those that don’t follow the comics

If you aren’t familiar with the Kick-Ass series then this movie May not be for you. None of the fight scenes are memorably conceived, and they’re seldom funny in this Sequel compared to the first one. I find this movie lacks what the first Movie inspired in its first run giving it a rather dull feel to it and at times it does have its comedic values, it lacks a structure that most comedy films are successful for. Reality is toss out the window in this film giving it an unbelievable characteristic, leading to suggest there is no reality to this film. Over all Kick-ass 2 has some of the most sick fighting scenes some being very gory. The movie leave you thinking there just may be another Kick-ass film around the corner to come.

For the comic books fans

Kick-Ass 2 was definitely a film for the fans; if you are familiar with the Kick-Ass series then this movie would be for you. The movie was awesome. The fight scenes were crazy funky and Hit-Girl always controls the show. I didn’t like that the critic gave a low score, but I honestly see why they made it so low, to a film’s core this film has no reality but a comic books view point rather than a masterpiece as most mainstream media movies are made, and they couldn’t exactly retain the same shock factor the first film had because Hit-Girl was only 11 or 12 years old in it. All things aside this Film was a pretty entertaining and I think most people will enjoy watching it.

I rate this movie 3 stars out of 5 ***

Movie over all get an D- for special effect, B – for acting , and a B- for story line. Movie gets an overall C –

I don’t recommend seeing this movie if you are not a fan of the comic books or renting it later for the the kids when it comes out on DVD.
